Nobel was always going to start in the first european home game. Especially in his final season. And it did show at times how much Father Time has caught up with him. And how much the rest of the squad has progress under Moyes. Kral is the future.

I'd like to see Kral get a few more games, he made an encouraging start against Man Utd and sitting on the bench won't do him any favours.

I'd use him over Noble every time.

You’re more than probably right, but I do hope Southgate benched him for Andorra, like last time. Moyes should be on the phone to him saying so. It’s for England’s benefit as much as West Ham’s that Rice isn’t run into the ground this season, and onwards. He’s got amazing energy, but he’s still only human.

No Lily, there's no way Rice gets rested in the prem, he'd have to lose a leg.

The only player who looks like they could do with a blow is Tommy Soucek. Pay to put him on a beach in Greece with his family for a week Sullivan, you tight bastard.

………..

I get the feeling that Soucek could pay for his own family holiday to be fair.

Probably upgrade to a room with a balcony too.

How could you possibly know that wasn't a penalty when they had to look at it on VAR about 8 times to get to that conclusion. You helmet.

Yarmolenko, square peg that he is is worth having around purely if we need a goal late in the game - the bloke is fucking lethal if the ball falls to him around the goal, best finisher at the club for me. Shame he's not very good at any of the other aspects of the game that we as a side see as important, the running and trying, tackling and stuff.

To be fair when he came off last night he looked absolutely ballbagged.

Was there last night.
Can't stand "Ultras" Cringable sheep!
The fact that Palace have fake ultras sums them up.

Not at our best but still should have won 4 or 5-0 with the chances we created and hitting the woodwork twice, that's how far we've come.

Had a good view of the penalty incident and knew it wasn't a penalty straight away.
No one around us was sure if there was VAR present or not.

He won’t rest Rice Sunday. You can take that to the bank.

I have a suspicion that Rice will be rested on Sunday. Souckek and Lanzini in the middle instead, or possibly Soucek and Kral.

And if Rice does play Sunday, I only hope Southgate doesn't use him for the Andorra game.

I know that Nobes is past his best but I am made up for him. He obviously ain't the best player these days, but he gave others a well-earned rest. He led the team out for our first game in Europe at the LS and in my opinion deserved the honour.

I don't want to see him playing too big a part in our bigger games but he deserved last night for all the years he's given us.

And yeah, I can just hear the Noble haters say, what if we lost? Well, we didn't fuckin lose and the score could so easily have been a Ratched. Moyes does it again with his team selection. Impressive stuff.

I agree and I felt a bit sorry for Johnson at times as he knew the support he received was never enough to allow him to go further forward when the need arose. Johnson and Yarmo interchanged quite well at times but it was Yarmo's job to step back into Johnson's position if he overlapped. You could see both chatting at half time and almost certainly Johnson stating this fact.
If we need Johnson on Sunday you can bet Bowen will give better support.

"Fornals pass to Bowen for his miss was better than that."

Maybe, but through balls like that depend on the pace of Bowen to pick it up, Yarma's is more about accuracy of the pass (admittidely Antonio's skill to chest it down was a big part of it).

I've just rewatched the game, and seen that Joe Cole took the piss out of Carlton Cole saying they haven't even got a fire exit named after him (after speaking to Noble about a stand being named after him if we win a trophy this season).

The CARLTON COLE FIRE EXIT needs to happen.

Can someone who's on social media get it TRENDING or whatever you do nowadays?

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Rapid Wien - Official Match Thread
I'm always baffled at how Yarma has done so well in his career being that he is the most 1 footed player I've ever seen in my life. Even his whole body posture tilts to the left when he's just standing still. I saw him lose he ball when he got crowded out and all it would have took was him to use his right foot to pass it off. Yet he spent ages shuffling round to get onto his left and eventually lost the ball!

However, I think we do sometimes need players who have a bit of class and experience not just work rate. I suppose thats what he offers. And the more game time he gets the more useful he will be. That was a great ball to Antonio. No one else did that yesterday. So he still has value to us I suppsoe.

What a pass from Fornals for Bowen’s miss.

The improvement in Pablo is just incredible, can say the same for Bowen, Benrahma, Antonio, Cresswell, Johnson, Diop seem to be improving and the most Obvious Declan.

Moyes and his staff seem to actually coach and improve players.

Yes the second half last night was a little disappointing but we should have been 3-0 at half time, 4-0 after Bowen’s miss, we created enough and did the job.

I would like to have seen Lanzini and Kral start last night but I can’t question the manager he sees them every day in training.

As for Vlasic I’m now prepared to give players 12-18 months before really judging as Moyes seems to want to blood them slowly but surely and gives them time to learn what is expected of them.

I always love Noble but he really shouldn’t play any more than 10–15 mins at the end of a game and I’ve seen enough of Yarma to know he’s not for us. There is a player there but he looks out of place in the side.

Big picture we didn’t lose a single pre season game, we have played 3 cup games, won 3 and had 3 clean sheets, we have lost 1 PL game by missing a last min penalty.

I don’t expect rip roarers every week. I’m just loving seeing a proper team play and not getting thumped all the time and knowing if we do go a goal down we might as go home because it will be 4 or 5.

Noble gave the ball away in a dangerous position in first half, other than that I thought he was pretty good. I can see Moyes playing him in most EL games this season as his swansong.

Rice, Diop and Dawson were great and didn't put a foot wrong.

We weren't quite at our best last night but it was fairly comfortable and could easily have been 4-0 without flattering us.

Apart from the obvious lack of a striker, all of a sudden we have good depth in most positions.
